Bat Removal

Bat Removal & Exclusion in Missouri City

Bats are protected in Texas, so this is not an extermination job. It is a timed, legal exclusion, and doing it wrong can seal flightless young inside your attic.

Bats in the attic? They cannot just be exterminated, because Texas law protects them, so this has to be done a specific, legal way. We put up one-way exits that let the bats fly out and not back in, then seal the openings, and we time the work around summer so no flightless young get sealed inside.

The law comes first

Under Texas Parks and Wildlife Code, bats may not be hunted or killed, with a narrow exception for one inside an occupied building, and killing a colony with chemicals is not permitted. So bat work is exclusion, not extermination: one-way devices that let the colony fly out to feed and block re-entry, then permanent sealing once they are all out.

Timing and maternity season

Texas Parks and Wildlife discourages bat exclusion from May 1 through August 15, because during those months the young cannot yet fly and would be sealed inside if the adults were excluded. We plan the exclusion around that window so no bats are entombed in your attic, and seal the roofline afterward.

Questions

Bat removal questions

Can you just kill the bats in my attic?
No, and no reputable company would. Texas law protects bats, so this is a legal exclusion using one-way exits that let them leave and not return, followed by sealing the openings. It is handled correctly, not exterminated.
Why can't you do it right now in the summer?
From May 1 through August 15, young bats cannot fly yet, and excluding the adults would seal the pups inside to die and rot in your attic. Texas Parks and Wildlife discourages exclusion in that window, so we time the work around it.
What happens after the bats are out?
Once the one-way exits confirm the colony has left, we permanently seal the roofline openings and can clean the guano and contamination they leave, which carries its own health risk. That restoration is quoted per job.
