Why do the ants get worse after I spray them?
Many store sprays are repellent, so they kill the foragers you see and trigger the colony to split and relocate, which looks like more ants in more places. Reaching the colony with the right bait is what reduces them.
What are the ants that are everywhere and ignore my spray?
Those are most likely tawny crazy ants, confirmed in Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. They build enormous numbers and shrug off many repellent products, so they need a targeted approach rather than off-the-shelf spray.
